Testamonial from one of our members:

“I joined the women’s walking group in June 2018 with some trepidation.  I didn’t consider myself ‘a walker’ and thought my husband ‘forcing’ me to walk 5 miles was excessive!  My first few walks with the group were a revelation – I found I really enjoyed being out in the countryside.  Although at first the hills almost had the better of me, I was soon mastering and surprisingly looking forward to them.  Now 18 months on, I walk regularly and even incorporated some 12 mile hilly jaunts when on a recent holiday – tiring but such a fantastic sense of achievement as I approach my 60th birthday.  My overall fitness level has greatly improved and as a consequence I have also taken-up (gentle) jogging, plus been motivated to give my diet an overhaul.  Healthy changes to what and how I eat, coupled with all the exercise, has seem me lose nearly 20lbs without any fad-dieting.  In addition, other health markers such as my lipid profile (cholesterol) have improved.  Joining the group has definitely helped promote my change in lifestyle and fostered a real love the great outdoors!”   Debbie B.  January 2020
